Llorente Signs with Tottenham

The fate of Swansea striker Fernando Llorente has been decided just hours before the close of this year’s transfer window.

According to reports, Swansea has accepted a bid from Tottenham Hotspurs for the 32-year-old Spanish international. Chelsea had also been circling Llorente, however, the counter-offer they were expected to make did not come to fruition.

Earlier this week, Swansea manager Paul Clement said that he was expecting Llorente to stay at Liberty Stadium, but that “something can come out of absolutely nowhere” before the transfer deadline.

Sky Sports sources have now confirmed that the striker signed a £12.1 million deal with the Spurs which runs until 2019.

“I’m very, very happy to join Tottenham, an amazing club,” Llorente told the Spurs website.

Llorente joined Swansea from Sevilla in August 2016, and scored a whopping 15 goals in 33 games last season.
